Inonotus obliquus

A dark, cracked conk that grows slowly on living birch in the cold forests of Siberia, Northern Europe and the Himalayan belt. Harvested for centuries and brewed as a dark, earthy tea.

Known for

One of the most polyphenol-dense natural materials studied, along with melanin, betulin and betulinic acid drawn from the birch host. Traditionally taken as a daily tonic tea across Russia, Finland and the Baltic.
